dc.description.abstract In April 2013, the Public Service Association and Victoria University’s School of Management surveyed public servants about their jobs, workplaces and organisations. Almost 16,000 PSA members took part from a wide range of occupations and agencies, making it the largest survey of workers undertaken in New Zealand. This article, the first of two, explores public servants’ perceptions of their managers, workplace processes, organisational systems and performance. A follow-up article next month will look at public servants’ experiences of their jobs. en_NZ
