Some aspects of aptitude and intelligence testing of New Zealanders, Maori and Pakeha
thesis
posted on 2021-12-13, 00:42 authored by Downes, Harold Edward ParkhurstThis investigation was undertaken in an attempt to shed some light on a problem which is encountered in any psychometric work carried out in New Zealand, the problem of the differences between Maori and Pakeha. As will be shown below, it appears to be fairly well established that there are differences in intellectual capacity between the two races, and the problem is rather that of determining whether that difference is innate, that is, whether it is a racial characteristic, or whether it is partially or totally accounted for by cultural factors.
